Me But Moreso

Verity’s disappointed with rural America initially the summer after her eleventh birthday. It’s her first visit across the pond to see her curious grandmother, who she’s yet to meet in person. She’s unimpressed with the scenery, the lack of alligators and bears, and the altogether letdown of empty fields instead of skyscrapers. Until she discovers a warm and bright oasis among the plains that shows her magical wonders and a new best friend—a boy who lives in the water.

The Ghoul’s Bees (WIP)

Nine year-old Gretta Goolsby and her five year-old brother Gregory live with their Greatmama in the Weeping Willow Wellness Center—a retirement home in the dusty corner of Northeast Oklahoma. The Weeping Willow has its share of characters: a teenage emo girl, Ro, who works overnights, an eight year-old boy named Jeremy who always seems to be in the way, and of course, a slew of elderly with interesting tales and grandiose experience. Gretta loves it!

Then one day, new ownership is announced and with it, a new owner. Gretta is convinced the owner is not what she seems and seeks to find an answer to the mysterious trail of unfortunate circumstances the sharp-nosed Miss Hoster leaves in her wake. What she finds will test the close knit community to the brink of their livelihoods, and cast them into their worst nightmares.

shepherd, shadow (WIP)

It begins with despair.

Two sets of twins two plus decades apart. One set twin in idea only, sharing the same father, born at exactly the same moment in time—to separate mothers. One near deaf, one near blind. Together, they hear and see everything.

The other set identical but part of two different worlds. One alive, one—not. Both worlds collide in each moment, skewing the line between life and death. Together, they see all, the shadows and the light.
